Undertake data cleansing and auditing of data being transferred from historic out-dated spreadsheets (su h a patients consents) unto our new document management systems including MediLIMS that can be employed for clinical service as well as research and development. Accurately input patient demographics onto Laboratory Information Management Systems such as Medilims. Work with consultant pathologists, data architecture and IT team to develop digital pathology process which can be exploited for an efficient clinical service as well as research and development (as we envisage that AI will become an important tool for clinical service delivery. Processing blood samples (a simple process that can be taught if the successful candidate does not have experience in this).



Be involved in ensuring good documentation/archiving of patients consents. To coordinate the digital scanning of glass slides for whole slide imaging. To supervise more junior colleagues through digital processes To coordinate with the senior staff in service development To assist the Quality Manager with audit To review and acknowledge local SOPs and working templates Assist with the creation of documents to be sent to patients: information sheets, consent forms and withdrawal of consent forms. Order laboratory consumables.



Supervise and co-ordinate work undertaken by more junior colleagues To ensure the work produced within the department is of a consistently high standard and record its execution on the computer system. To file and retrieval of histological material. To assist with the ongoing maintenance of relevant equipment. To monitor stock levels of chemicals and consumables.



To participate in laboratory meetings. To have a working awareness of UKAS. To work on own initiative but bringing issues to senior managers when appropriate. To attend mandatory training.



To adhere to Trust policies and procedures relevant to your position. Any other duties commensurate with the grade. Research and Development Freeze tissue when necessary and assist in the freezing of tissue for the tissue bank. Add and remove samples from the tissue bank and record entry onto the frozen tissue database.



Freezing, processing and storing of blood samples and record samples accurately on relevant software. Participate in Research and Development activities within the department when required. Quality Control Participate in internal and external quality assurance schemes. Participate in internal quality control procedures including technical authorisation of work.



Active involvement in the process of continuous quality improvement through audit, preventative and corrective action throughout the laboratory. Promptly report and incidents / accidents and near miss occurrences in accordance with Departmental and Trust Policies and Procedures. Assist in improving departmental quality through audit and revision of practices based on findings. Train less experienced staff on a regular basis, reviewing SOPs as part of this process.
