Instrumentation Engineer

GSK are recruiting for an Instrumentation Engineer to join them at the Montrose site. This is predominately a site-based role but there may be a small amount of remote working flexibility.

This is a varied role, where you will be working across 5 production areas on site. You will be involved in all matters of instrumentation and operations support. You will work across multiple functions including operations, quality and EHS teams. There is strong development support on offer including training courses.

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for supporting all Instrumentation matters on the Montrose site - safety, quality, CS validation, policies, standards, maintenance, training & mentoring instrument and control staff.
  • Provides specialist technical knowledge for Instrumentation mainly to projects, plant modifications, continuous improvement, EHS and maintenance operations.
  • Contributes towards the design, installation, commissioning, operations continuing maintenance, and testing relating to Instrumentation systems.
  • Provides continuing support for all automation systems on site.

  • Professional Engineering guidance and authorisation of plant modifications and Engineering Drawings.
  • Authorisation of MERPs data, routines and maintenance tasks.
  • Authorisation of changes to site procedures (LSOP\xe2\x80\x99s) following review of company documents/standards. As part of Group/site teams - develop, review, update, interpret and apply Engineering standards (GES\xe2\x80\x99s/SEP\xe2\x80\x99s/LSOPs).
  • Continually improving plant, equipment and maintenance techniques in order to deliver better, faster, lower cost products.
  • A technical specialist, responsible for exploiting new engineering technologies and development and implementation of best practice.
  • Requires a high degree of problem solving and the ability to troubleshoot, facilitate decisions and weigh-up advantages and disadvantages in order to provide solutions. Carry out failure investigations and recommending improvements in design or maintenance practices
  • Interpretation and application of standards is essential.
  • Assists in offsite Instrumentation recommendations/decisions within the Agile Shared Service. Also, provides recommendations, effective solutions and guidance to Engineering staff and project design staff

  • HNC in Instrumentation/Measurement and Control or relevant proven experience.
  • Previous experience of instrumentation engineering
Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Professional Registration with the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) or Institute of Measurement & Control (IMC)
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of functional safety
  • Knowledge of working in hazardous environment
  • Relevant engineering degree
