This hands-on leadership role requires a technically skilled professional to oversee a team of engineers, manage installations, and ensure operational excellence across client sites. The ideal candidate will balance managerial responsibilities with fieldwork, driving efficiency and maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineers in the installation, servicing, and repair of industrial equipment (e.g., laundry auto-dosing systems, water coolers, boilers, washroom dispensers) across commercial and public-sector client sites.
Provide technical training, mentorship, and escalation support to engineers, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Conduct plumbing/electrical surveys for installations, ensuring accurate costings and resource allocation.
Manage facilities maintenance, including electrical fault-finding, PAT testing, and Legionella monitoring in office/warehouse environments.
Strategically plan workloads, optimize engineer schedules, and monitor departmental KPIs to meet performance targets.
Oversee refurbishment of returned equipment and maintain spare parts inventory.
Report on departmental performance, identify improvements, and advise on new equipment/services.
Flexibility for occasional overnight stays during long-distance projects.
Essential Skills & Experience
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations
(or equivalent qualification).
Proven experience in
service engineering/facilities management
with supervisory/managerial responsibilities.
Strong electrical installation and maintenance expertise (19th Edition Regulations/JIB certification preferred).
Full UK driving licence (clean record required).
Proficiency in Health & Safety compliance and risk management.
Advanced organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel); PowerPoint is a plus.
Basic plumbing knowledge (advantageous).
DBS check required
due to client sectors (e.g., schools, healthcare facilities).
