This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified legal professional to join Safer Sphere, an award-winning consultancy in construction safety. We seek an In-House Legal Counsel to lead on all commercial contracts and legal matters, supporting our growing and dynamic business.

Working in a high-trust, values-driven environment, this is a chance to bring your commercial law expertise to a specialist SME and make a direct impact across the organisation. You will have the autonomy to lead on legal strategy and processes while collaborating closely with directors and operational teams to drive contractual excellence and manage legal risk.

As an in-house legal counsel, you will be key in managing and overseeing all legal matters across the business. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements such as consultancy and sub-consultant contracts, NDAs, service-level agreements, and framework contracts. The role ensures legal compliance and risk mitigation across all documentation and contractual processes, while also maintaining and developing standard legal templates.

The successful candidate will lead contract negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners, offering strategic legal advice to directors and senior leadership. They will also provide ongoing support in corporate governance areas, including statutory filings, board resolutions, and ensuring compliance with best practices.

In addition, the role supports merger and acquisition activity, conducting legal due diligence and assisting with related documentation. The manager will advise on data protection and privacy compliance (including GDPR), update internal policies, and support training and awareness initiatives.

Support on employment and HR legal matters, alongside company secretarial duties and legal risk management. The role will coordinate and liaise with external legal counsel to provide specialist input where necessary.

Who we're looking for:



We're looking for a commercially astute legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment:

Qualified solicitor in England and Wales (ideally with 3-4 years PQE, though flexibility exists).

Strong commercial and contract law background.

In-house or SME experience is desirable, particularly in professional services or consultancy.

Working knowledge of corporate, M&A, data protection, and employment law.

Clear communicator with the ability to translate legal concepts for non-lawyers.

Able to work independently and prioritise effectively.
