Brief Description





To establish, implement, manage, and improve the provision of technical expertise for all project information disciplines throughout Network Rail Wales and Western Programmes of work; with the purpose of ensuring that project and programme project information deliverables and activities can deliver effective and efficient procurement, production, delivery and transfer of project information to meet business standards and relevant legislation. To support Wales and Western and wider business in the development of technical and technological solutions and strategies that improves or enhances the methodologies and working practices for managing project information.








About the role (External)





Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
  • Identify the \xe2\x80\x98customers\xe2\x80\x99 for project information within (enter organisation), as well as other stakeholders within Network Rail, and their BIM/Asset Data/Collaboration and other information requirements.
  • Establish and maintain regular interfaces between the Projects, Programme, and other Network Rail stakeholders in respect of all matters concerning the delivery, production and exchange of project information and asset data to meet the identified requirements.
  • Develop and manage the team structure that provides the processes and procedures for the production and management of project information and data delivery to the required standards.
  • Provide first line support to the projects by way of technical and non-technical advice. Where feasible, provide additional support by way of production of project deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and support in the management, production, delivery, governance, and assurance of the regions project\xe2\x80\x99s requirements for information so they meet all Programme and Network Rail requirements.
  • Communicate the requirements for delivery and production of project information to Contracts & Procurement for inclusion in contract documentation.
  • Manage the provision of the Common Data Environment system and Information Management resources to effectively support the needs of the Projects and Programmes including reporting on performance and non-compliances.
  • Provide professional functional leadership for information management within (enter organisation), in accordance with policies set up by the Engineering function.
  • The provision of education, training and support relating to the procurement, production, and delivery of project information to both internal and external teams.

You will ideally have
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the Information Management Systems and industry standards relating to Information Management disciplines (such as Bentley eB and Projectwise, Sharepoint, CCMS, BIM, Asset Data (Ellipse) and Asset Information Specifications).
  • Thorough knowledge of railway infrastructure design, construction, operation and maintenance.
  • Strong evaluation, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience of leading the establishment of project data standards, methods, and procedures required to support the collaborative production of information.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and Programme context.
  • Awareness of financial, procurement and commercial systems and processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or equivalent)
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers in a contractual environment.

What could set you apart
  • Academic qualifications and/or membership of a professional body relating to a recognised engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of national and industry standards relating to engineering data managements and production, namely BS 1192:2007 and PAS 1192-2 2013.
  • Working knowledge of engineering data management systems; preferably Microstation.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail\xe2\x80\x99s Governance for Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) Policy, engineering contracts and procurement processes.
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor members of a project team.
  • Experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects, preferably rail infrastructure related.

Salary: Salary: This role is a Band 3B - \xc2\xa346,701 - \xc2\xa352,538 per annum.
