About the role
The Information Analyst will play a key role in the delivery of insight, management information (MI) and reporting within the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS), to support the monitoring, reporting and management of the Faculty\'s strategic, commercial and business-as-usual performance. This role will report to the Senior Manager - Planning & Insight.
The Planning and Operations Team aim to increase the use of data visualisations and other reporting tools to enable us to meet the unit objectives and understand progress against those objectives, as part of managing business planning and performance monitoring more broadly.
The post-holder will look at all aspects of faculty data (student, staff, research, finance and other strategic measures) and contribute to the design of reports; data visualisations; and analysis of existing/new data sources to create insight into Faculty performance across key projects and strategic activities. The post-holder will ensure that these outputs guide recipients of the data through the insight and add contextual information where appropriate, to support decision making. Outputs will include regular reporting, ad hoc queries, and deep dive analysis.
The Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences is the largest and most diverse at The Open University, with almost 50,000 students studying 37 different qualifications across 14 disciplines. We are home to more than 1,700 members of staff, from academics and associate lecturers to support staff and full-time research students.
Skills and Experience
Do you have strong data manipulation and analysis skills - can you analyse large complex datasets to create clear business insight?
Are you comfortable engaging with stakeholders to understand, translate, and refine their data and analysis needs to help create coherent analytical frameworks which deliver insight into performance?
Can you tell simple and persuasive stories with data, presenting complex data in an impactful and accessible way for non-technical audiences?
Can you adapt to an ever-changing environment, correctly identify and quickly assimilate key information, and enthusiastically learn new skills and techniques?
