Job Title: Industrial Fellow

Salary \xc2\xa333,348 to \xc2\xa343,155pa dependent on experience

Location: West Midlands

Venn Group is proud to be assisting a pioneering global institution in their recruitment of an Industrial Engagement Fellow in Cyber Security and Data Science. They will collaborate with academic and industrial partners to secure funding for innovation projects in the rail industry. The successful candidate should possess technical expertise, commercial awareness, and bridge the technology transfer gap while serving as a trusted advisor to industrial partners.

Key duties:

- Collaborating with lead academics and industrial partners to find and propose research opportunities and then coordinate bid development in all its stages

- Providing expert advice to academics on bid development and research opportunities

- Providing advice and guidance for exploitation of research findings so they become commercial opportunities

- Disseminating research outputs in an accessible format to a range of expert and non-expert audiences to promote research exploitation and impact

Skills required:

- Hold, or close to completion of, a PhD in a subject relevant to Cyber Security and Data Science, or demonstration of equivalent experience

- Relevant experience in research, development and/or innovation in the rail industry and/or research related to the industry

- Significant knowledge of innovation requirements and challenges in the rail industry, in the UK and internationally

- Ability to digest complex information and concepts, and translate this into opportunity for an internal or external stakeholder

- Demonstrable communication skills, including an ability to explain complex information to a wide range of expert and non-expert audiences

- Ability and confidence to speak, write and communicate effectively, using appropriate tools/techniques for the audience

- Proven collaboration skills and an ability to work with stakeholders of all levels, across industry and academia, internally and externally, and nationally and internationally

- Strong report-writing and proposal-writing skills

- Confidence in networking and strong relationship-building skills

- Excellent analytical skills and strategic-thinking to contribute to strategy development and planning

- Team skills to work with a range of internal and external people, as well as a self-starting approach to be able to work autonomously towards shared goals

- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
