Business Overview

As part of a large national producer of fresh produce, you will be temporarily responsible for our indoor growing site in the Scottish Borders. Our primary crops nationally are beetroot and potatoes.

Our indoor growing facility, in the Scottish Borders is comprised of laboratory, glasshouses & multiple bespoke indoor growing areas and systems.

Job Summary

Covering for the Site Manager whilst they are on maternity leave, the job requires overseeing the day-to-day operation of the facility. Direct line management of site staff required along with carrying out day to day site tasks, when required. A key part of the role is to ensure that customer expectations and deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities

People

Manage a team, comprising of assistant manager, head lab technician and 6 workers across the site.

Operations

To deliver group leading Health and Safety management practices in line with the company Health and Safety Policy. To support with all aspects of the production process across the whole site. To ensure that all required quality control measures are being completed and recorded. To support with maintaining the highest possible levels of traceability and biological integrity at all stages. To maintain the highest standards of tidiness and maintenance on all facilities and equipment. To produce all customer orders to the required timescales and quality standards. Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of plant and equipment, to cover security, maintenance, repair and replacement, supported by our suppliers where applicable.

Customer Focus

Exceed specifications for product quality and size. Meeting deadlines for orders and ensuring sales are in line with site capacity.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level, ideally with an agricultural or horticultural background. Experience of managing others is essential and an understanding of basic health & safety rules is required. Full training will be provided, someone who can learn quickly and pick up processes easily is essential.

Pay: 29,383.48-40,000.00 per year
