On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit an
Independence Support Companion
for a young individual with additional needs. This ongoing role is for 3 hours per week, providing tailored support to help the client build independence and confidence in daily life.
We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and flexible person who can supervise and encourage the client in the community, supporting their interests and personal growth. The client is passionate about Japanese language and culture, computers, and classic animation.

Key Responsibilities
Provide physical and emotional support, enabling participation in activities such as cinema visits, lunches, museums, galleries, and other outings
Support the client on walks and outdoor activities
Assist with daily living tasks (meal preparation, eating, basic household chores)
Encourage and support the development of independence, confidence, and life skills
Offer emotional support and companionship, promoting well-being and self-worth
Take responsibility for the client's safety outdoors, primarily through verbal prompts and anticipating hazards
Essential Skills and Experience
Experience working with individuals with disabilities (physical and/or learning)
Ability to provide physical support and assistance with daily living tasks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; understanding of autism
Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
Capable of working independently
Basic first aid knowledge
Qualifications in care or related field, or currently studying (e.g., NVQ, Diploma in Health and Social Care, social work)
Knowledge of disability awareness and the social model of disability
Understanding of sensory processing issues, especially noise avoidance
Ability to engage with the client's special interests in conversation
Compassionate, empathetic, patient, and calm
Ability to build trust and rapport with the individual and their family
Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and circumstances
Respectful of the individual's autonomy, dignity, and confidentiality
