Inclusion support assistants work with pupils and families to raise attainment by providing a high level of assistance to meet educational, social and physical needs. You will provide assistance in relation to a range of support strategies employed by the school to promote inclusion. These could include supporting attendance; promoting positive behaviour/relationships; supporting learning; supporting initiatives in relation to whole school nurture.
It is essential that you Educated to minimum SVQ level 3, HNC or equivalent in social care, early learning, education or health; that you have experience of working with children/young people and families who have faced barriers to learning; that you have experience/knowledge of the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) approach and nurturing approaches.
You should be highly motivated, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, be an effective communicator, enthusiastic, positive and resilient.
It is desirable you have experience of working in a primary schools/ early years setting aswell as experience of different methods of support to young people to deal with issues such anger management, bullying, social isolation, bereavement and loss, anxiety and lack of confidence.
A qualification in counselling and a driving licence are also desirable.
Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for twelve months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
