Impact Fellow

Are you a talented postdoctoral researcher who has experience in impact and engagement? Are you passionate about women\xe2\x80\x99s subcultural practices, gender politics and questions of inclusivity and diversity? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK\xe2\x80\x99s leading research intensive Universities? Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Impact Fellow to work on a 12 month Follow-On Impact and Engagement project \xe2\x80\x93 \xe2\x80\x98Self-worth as a community asset: co-authoring and extending burlesque\xe2\x80\x99s protected and deregulated spaces as good practice\xe2\x80\x99 \xe2\x80\x93funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The project follows on from the work undertaken on the original AHRC funded 3 year project, \xe2\x80\x98Fabulous Femininities: Extravagant Costume and Transformative Thresholds\xe2\x80\x99 which explored the transformative role of costume for the UK burlesque community. You will be part of the core project team that will be led by Dr Jacki Willson (Principal Investigator). The Co-Investigator on this project will be Professor of Applied Performance Alice O\xe2\x80\x99Grady (PCI, University of Leeds). You will be responsible for the \xe2\x80\x98day-to-day\xe2\x80\x99 administration of the project, based at the University of Leeds and will be mentored by Jacki Willson and Alice O\xe2\x80\x99Grady. Your primary responsibilities will be to co-ordinate and help facilitate the impact activities including the workshops, film-making and the screening event. You will run the social media platforms (Twitter and Instagram) and will publish regular blog entries. As the Impact Fellow you will also write up the workshop discussion as a set of guidelines on safe space and a formal report aimed at the wider night-time industry. You will be an integral part of the team and will be expected to work independently. You will possess a PhD in a subject that is relevant to the project such as performance/performativity; gender and sexuality; subcultural practices and night-time economy; with a focus on impact and community engagement or Cultural Industry Policy. You may also have a wide network in a relevant cultural industry with experience building and sustaining relationships with key partners, stakeholders and policy makers. You will hold a PhD that involved the facilitation of knowledge exchange workshops and other engagement activities that generated impact. You may also have experience writing reports, publishing regular blog entries and maintaining social media platforms or an aptitude for undertaking such activities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is a willingness to work independently.
