:Background informationRobert Half is pleased to partner with a prestigious school in Cambridge to recruit an interim Accountant on an 8m FTC. The role will be a blend of commercial operations and support for the school finance functions and will work closely with the CFO and Finance Manager as well as the Bursar. The role will assist with the production of timely financial information and returns to all stakeholders and maintain the accounting records for the subsidiary company.Role ResponsibilitiesTo assist the Chief Financial Officer [CFO] in the financial accounting and reporting of the School, including

• Assistance with the annual year end statutory financial audits
• Monthly management accounts reporting
• Responsibility for reporting on budgetary control within the group
• Day to day financial transaction posting and management reporting for the facilities and subsidiary
• Management of the School's Fees in Advance Scheme
• Control and updating of financial information published to/used by third parties (e.g. the financial information on the School's website) and other ad hoc projects required from time to time
• Review and implementation of new systems and internal processes including new software.
• Produce monthly management accounts for the school entities as directed by the Chief Financial Officer, for review by the CFO
• Work as directed by the CFO on aspects of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including analyses and deeper investigations of variances and trends
• Respond to auditor schedules and requests for information as directed by CFO
• Preparation of regular reports to stakeholders as required by the Chief Financial Officer
• Overall responsibility for the financial accounting, reporting and procedures for school and its subsidiaries
• Maintain Fixed Asset Registers
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts including Fees In Advance
• Day to day entries onto finance systems, including bank posting and reconcilitiation, cash flow management, paying suppliers, raising sales invoices
• Providing the International team with management information for budgeting and planning
• Intercompany recharges and reconciliations
• Information for auditors as requested
• Corporation tax return

Role Requirements

• ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant desirable
• Knowledge of schools/education sector desirable
• 3+ years relevant experience in an educational/ commercial environment;
• Experience with computerised accounting packages;
• Advanced use of Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• An ability to plan work and achieve deadlines;
• Good communication skills;
• Diplomacy, tact, awareness of others and willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an open plan office.
