We\'re looking for numerous Hydrometry and Telemetry Officers to join our team. You\'ll predominantly be working outdoors installing, operating and maintaining water flow and level measuring equipment in our local rivers and groundwater monitoring boreholes.
You will be expected to carry out your role in all seasons but you will be adequately provided with necesary PPE for the activity you will be carrying out.
We\'re looking for enthusiastic people who can use initiative to solve problems. You\'ll play a key role in resolving issues or repairing equipment, ensuring that the Environment Agency is best prepared to respond during environmental incidents; helping to protect people and livelihoods from the impacts of flooding.
This is an entry level role, and we\'ll provide you with full on the job training led by our experienced team members as well as formal training provided by external training suppliers. You will be fully comfortable in the role before being asked to complete any site visits on your own.
Due to the nature of the role the below criteria are essential:
Full UK driving licence
You must be able to swim as you will often be working in/near water.
You will be required to pass colour vision tests prior to appointment as you will have to maintain electrical equipment with multi coloured wiring.
The team
The Hydrometry & Telemetry Team is responsible for the operation of the hydrometric network of assets for the North-east delivered as a singular team working from offices in Newcastle & Darlington, we also work very closely alongside our colleagues in the Yorkshire Region.
The Team is currently in a transition period and are currently trialling a new team structure, this is an exciting time for the team with lots of new opportunities and challenges.
Experience/skills required

Confidence with using IT systems, in particular Microsoft Office programmes
