The Role



As our HR Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping and leading our people strategy, ensuring that our policies, procedures, and workplace culture support business growth and employee development. Reporting directly to the Board, you will be responsible for creating and implementing HR policies that align with our strategic goals, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation. You will work closely with managers and employees to provide HR support, promote best practice, and drive employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Strategy:



Develop, implement, and oversee the company's people strategy to support business objectives and growth. Ensure that HR policies, procedures, and best practices are in place and consistently followed across all depots. Report directly to the Board, providing updates on HR initiatives, workforce planning, and compliance matters.

Employee Support & Engagement:



Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing guidance and support to managers and employees. Foster a culture of engagement, well-being, and high performance through effective HR initiatives. Support the leadership team in developing and implementing employee engagement strategies.

Recruitment & Retention:



Oversee the recruitment process to ensure that we are attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent. Oversee onboarding, training, and development programmes to ensure employees have the tools and support needed to thrive. Support succession planning and talent development across all areas of the business.

Compliance & Policy Management:



Ensure compliance with employment law and HR best practices, regularly reviewing and updating company policies. Manage employee relations, providing guidance on disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes. Maintain accurate HR records and ensure GDPR compliance.

Learning & Development:



Support the leadership team to identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities to enhance employee skills and career progression. Implement initiatives to upskill managers and strengthen leadership capabilities within the business.

To Secure This Role You Will Need:



Proven experience in an HR management role, ideally within the construction, engineering, or technical services sector. Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR policies, and best practices. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels. A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving and employee support. Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies to drive business success. CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) is highly desirable.

SALARY RANGE:

TBC depending on experience

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

HOURS:

Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

ANNUAL LEAVE:

25 days plus bank holidays

PENSION:

Contribution to a pension in line with the mandatory government workplace pension scheme

This role will be based at our Head Office in Leeds 9.

Pay: From 45,000.00 per year
