We are looking for an experienced HR Manager/ People Manager to lead our People function, supporting the careers of over 600 employees across our branch network of 14 UK sites. The role involves national travel to support the development of strong relationships with key employees.

The Role
This is a new position supporting the central role of the people team in developing people to implement the business strategy. Initially the role would have 4 direct reports in HR and Learning and Development roles. The role would also oversee our early careers programmes for around 100 employees including our trade apprenticeship and Management Trainee programmes.
You
This role would suit someone with significant experience within HR with at least 2 years in an HR Management role in a large organisation.
You will have a strong record of delivering change and employee engagement initiatives and will have experience of designing and delivering learning and development programmes.
This is a role for someone who is able to work at a strategic level whilst also being willing to deliver strong support to managers on the practical implementation of HR policies, including by having a caseload of employee relations matters.
You will lead by example, with a strong commitment to your own personal continuous professional development, gaining further qualifications where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR:
support the development and implementation of HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
Team Management:
lead a team of 4 within HR
Advisory Support:
advise on the practical implementation of employment law at branch level to support consistent approach throughout the branch network
Employee Relations:
to support case management of employee relations matters
Learning and Development:
oversee the key learning and development programmes throughout the business and advise on individual development plans
Employee Engagement:
develop and implement engagement initiatives to support employee wellbeing and retention
Recruitment, Induction and Onboarding:
oversee the recruitment and onboarding process including ensuring legal compliance
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion:
supporting the development of EDI initiatives to support all employees to work effectively and to make progress in ensuring our workforce is reflective of the communities in which we work
Data Analysis:
provide information to senior management and make recommendations to improve business performance
Policies and Procedures:
write policies and procedures and ensure they are kept up to date based on legislation and best practice
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
CIPD qualified to Level 5 or above or equivalent experience as per job description with a view to achieving Chartered Membership
2 years+ experience of leading, managing and mentoring an HR team in a large organisation
Strong experience of designing and implementing successful strategic initiatives e.g. cultural change programmes
Experience of creating and delivering compelling and effective training and learning materials and development programmes
Knowledge and Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of employment law and best practice and their practical application
Digesting employment law to write clear, concise and user-friendly policies and procedures
Project Management skills with a proven track record of delivering successfully
Understanding of effective implementation of EDI initiatives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Coaching and mentoring skills
Data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to analyse and present key people metrics
IT skills (notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong business acumen
Full driving licence

Benefits
The exact package will be dependent on skills and experience. Basic salary will be in the region of 42,000-52,000, with discretionary bonus, fully expensed company car, life assurance, up to 8% contributory company pension scheme and family health insurance following successful completion of probationary period. We offer all office staff 25 days' annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays.
Hours: Full time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday, with occasional evening work required.
