About us:

The Department of Medicine is the largest Department in the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Research is our major focus; from the fundamental aspects of biology, through to work on disease mechanisms as well as clinical translations.

The opportunity:

To support and deliver proactive and responsive HR services to academic, research, and professional colleagues including external visitors. This role sits within a team of 4 HR administrative professionals and works closely with the Department\'s professional service team.

About you:

We are looking for someone with a background in HR and the ability to work on various HR-related items. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be confident in making informed decisions and escalating to the Senior HR Coordinator where necessary. The ability to apply discretion when managing highly confidential information and communicating effectively with all levels of staff and other Departments outside of Medicine is essential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advising on HR policy, procedure and best practice on employment relations issues such as staff welfare and terms and conditions of employment.
  • Providing a recruitment service for the department, advising staff on University policy and processes.
  • Management of the departments limit of tenure process.
  • Coordinating the research, academic and student visitor process for the Department.
  • General administration relating to payroll, leave entitlement, sickness, holidays etc.
More about you:
  • Educated to HND/ HNC level, level 4/ 5 vocational qualification or an equivalent level of practical experience
