Job Purpose:
To support the HR Business Partners in providing a professional and customer focused HR service to managers and colleagues working in our Racing and Numbers businesses. To support the Head of HR Business Partnering and the HR Director in the implementation of the HR strategy and people plan to the SIS Group of companies. To work with the HR Transactional Team to provide a HR transactional service to ensure that the systems and operational processes within the SIS, SIS Media, 49's and SIS Content Inc business and wider SIS Group remain robust and fit for purpose. To work with the Talent Acquisition Advisor on recruitment activity for the SIS and 49's business. To work on projects assigned to them and participate in project groups designed to deliver organisational goals and create better work/working lives at the SIS Group of Companies.
The role is a generalist role with activities spanning all the professional areas detailed on the CIPD's HR professional map. The post holder is accountable for their advisory led HR service to line managers. Whilst the role's focus is advising and managing individual or team-based human resource matters, the role will typically provide 'second line' advice, with the HR Transactional Team being the 'first line' of advice.
The HR Advisor will be required to regularly and routinely attend our MediaCityUK (Salford) office during their working week to enable them to work alongside colleagues. The business also incorporates teams based in our Milton Keynes and London office and therefore the postholder will also be required to attend these office locations to work alongside colleagues based there when the nature of the work requires this. There may also be occasions where travel to Ireland is required, although this will only be in exceptional circumstances, if at all.
The role focus will be working with first line managers and supporting the HR Business Partners in advising on individual or team-based generalist HR activities, adopting a 'hands on' and agile approach to ensuring that the core HR fundamentals and infrastructure are fully delivered and embedded within this growing and evolving business operation.

HR Advice
To provide advice and assistance to employees, workers and managers on the full range of HR policies, procedures and legislation, ensuring they are accurately interpreted and that up-to-date information is provided.
To respond to queries and provide advice and guidance to employees, workers and managers relating to pay and reward, including total remuneration and incentives, employee benefits and payroll.
Recruitment
To work with the Talent Acquisition Advisor and HR Transactional Team during the recruitment and selection process ensuring that an excellent service is provided for the candidate journey and managers throughout. Advising and supporting managers with writing job descriptions, planning and writing recruitment campaign materials. Be a HR panel member on recruitment interviews and attend job fair events. Support handling internal assessment centres.
Support First Line managers with onboarding and induction activities.
Management and tracking of Right to Work/Visa compliance for the SIS business.
Focus on employer branding and candidate experience, ensuring that the SIS identity is well represented during recruitment.
People Data and Metrics
Ownership and management of the SIS people data set within the HR system, ensuring the data is kept up to date and developing data recording and reporting to support business objectives. Work closely with the two HRBP's for SIS to focus on data checking (eg quarterly reports), trend analysis and developing data insights to improve employee engagement, performance, inclusion, and retention.
Prepare and closely monitor KPI's / statistics to ensure HR deliverables and standards are maintained. The role will specifically assist the HR Business Partners, Head of HR Business Partnering and the HR Director in data collation and the compiling of both financial and associated HR reports.
Work in partnership with payroll to ensure people are paid accurately and on time. Check the payroll tracker input as part of the monthly payroll cycle, flag/correct when payroll discrepancies arise.
Training and Development
Assist managers in managing training programmes and monitoring expenditure in accordance with agreed budgets, including the raising of purchase orders.
Take responsibility for the set up of training courses including booking meeting rooms, ordering lunches and delegate booking and managing calendar appointments.
Assist with the delivery of training and inductions when required.
Support the HR Business Partners in the maintenance of the Skills Matrix and Training Needs Analysis.
Supporting the HR Business Partners with identifying and arranging learning solutions to meet individual and team development plans (using the 70:20:10 model of learning)
Manage the set up of Apprenticeships on the Apprentice Levy Portal. Work with Apprenticeship Providers when required.
Attendance and Performance Management
Liaising with managers on Occupational Health referrals during recruitment processes, once absence trigger points are reached and in response to sickness absence. Support the HRBPs in writing OH referrals.
Ensure end of probationary period and performance review meetings are scheduled. Advise mangers on extensions to probationary periods and checking/ writing associated letters.
Support the HRBP's to ensure the employee case log, case chronology and employee memos in the HR system are maintained.
Being the HR panel member at disciplinary and grievance investigation meetings.
Being the HR panel member on attendance/absence review, capability and wellbeing review.
Support the HRBPs and line managers in preparing case document bundles and with note taking at procedural meetings when required.
Communication and engagement
Work closely with HRBPs and line managers to promote positive work culture and in organisation and planning of engagement events.
Work with the internal marketing team to develop internal communication and workforce engagement activities, including updating pages on SIS Central (Intranet).
Support the HR Director with Employee Surveys including the Annual Employee Engagement Survey.
Support HRBPs on delivering educational campaigns on topics such as employment legislation, policy updates, wellbeing, EDI, ESG.
Leavers
Carry out exit interviews when required.
Work in partnership with the HR transaction team in the leaver processing.
Business Growth/Change Projects
Being the HR member at consultation meetings where appropriate and as required.
Working as the project lead in conjunction with the appropriate senior HR team member for projects and processes assigned to the HR Advisor to support the in-year HR team objectives and deliverables.
Creates and owns appropriate project control documentation, including, but not limited to, legislative changes, timeline and financial tracking tools.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will likely have experience in a generalist HR role in a business with similar attributes to SIS, namely a 24/7 shift based live broadcast, technology/data service-based business delivering mission-critical services to important customers operating internationally.

Essential Knowledge:

CIPD level 5 qualified (or equivalent) or studying towards (demonstrable practical experience can offset the normal qualification requirements). Member of the CIPD.

Working Location and Arrangements:
The contractual base of the role will be the Company's offices in the Blue Tower, MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester (M50 2ST). Due to the onsite operational nature of the business the HR Advisor should be resident in an area that allows regular and routine attendance, sometimes at short notice, in our MediaCityUK office each week to enable them to work alongside colleagues in person and carry out the role duties. There will be a requirement of in-person office attendance in MediaCityUK at least 2 days a week, however there is likely to be occasions when the nature of the work will require or benefit from office attendance on 3, 4, or 5 days a week. There would be an opportunity for working from home when on site attendance is not required.
The business also has team members working in our Milton Keynes Office (MK10 0AX) and our London office (W1B 1NS) and therefore the postholder will be required to attend these offices to work alongside colleagues based there and when the nature of the work would benefit from or requires in person attendance. Travel expenses will be paid in accordance with the Company Expenses Policy. This may on occasion require an overnight stay away from home.
Normal hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) with a one hour unpaid daily lunch break. We are open to discussing flexibility of daily working hours. Due to the 24/7 shift based nature of the operation there can be occasion when the HR Advisor needs to support meetings or events with colleagues in the evenings or at weekends due to their shift working patterns. In these circumstances working hours will be time shifted or Time off in Lieu given.
