West Dunbartonshire Council is offering an exciting opportunity to get involved in the delivery of our Housing First Service. Two full time, fixed term positions for Housing First Support Workers within our Housing Options and Homeless Service are required.
Working together with a small experienced team you will have a key role empowering and supporting citizens in ordinary settled housing but who may have experienced childhood and early years trauma, domestic abuse, mental ill health, addictions as well as time spent in local authority care or prison.
Reporting to the Team Leader for Supported Accommodation the post holders will be required to work effectively and jointly with the wider homeless service, social housing providers and with a range of other statutory and voluntary services.
We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated support workers who understand and can delivery on the key principles for Housing First. The successful candidate will have a Level 3 SVQ qualification in social care or equivalent, proof of right to work in the UK and a satisfactory PVG Scheme disclosure check. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Funded under our Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan the posts all fixed term for 12 months but will be subject to review as part of our continued delivery of Housing First Services in West Dunbartonshire.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found .
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
