Job Description

We are excited to offer a fixed term for one year .5 wte Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy role to cover Maternity Leave



You will work closely with the Service Managers to deliver a service to Early years and school age children who have speech language and communication needs arising from Deafness. You will support children and young people in a number of different contexts , including, nurseries schools at home and in specialist units. You will work closely with The teachers of the deaf to target interventions. You will offer second opinions and advice to colleagues in the area of autism and may be required to deliver training to parents and colleagues.



You will take the lead on the development of objectives or projects, with the support of the Clinical Managers of the service relating to Deafness and you will support peers and less experienced staff in implementation. You will provide highly specialist support and knowledge to the team in the area of deafness within the speech and language service and for other professionals and will provide specialist second opinions.



You will be a lead specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the multi-professional assessment of children with Deafness. You will assess and diagnose speech, language and communication needs. You will plan and implement highly specialist programmes of support and intervention for children with speech, language and communication needs. You will provide highly specialist knowledge and advice, to parents, carers, education and other staff, students and SLT team in all aspects of the speciality of Deafnes, including cochlear implant and appropriate communication methods. To provide a range of skills to promote and train others in use of AAC (signed supported English , BSL and alternative and augmentative communication systems)
