Job Advert: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)


Location: St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, Crawley


Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Term Time Only, 30 hours per week


Pay Grade: Grade 8, Pt 20 (31,586 pro-rata) - Pt 24 (34,314 pro -rata), depending on experience

We are a thriving and welcoming school in Crawley, seeking a motivated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. If you are enthusiastic about supporting children and contributing to a positive learning environment, we would love to hear from you!


Role Overview:


As a HLTA, you will be expected to support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons, working with pupils both individually and in groups. Your role will include:


o Leading small group or 1:1 intervention


o Providing occasional cover when a teacher is absent


o Providing feedback to pupils on their progress


o Helping to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment


o Supervising pupils during lunchtime and breaks as needed


What We Are Looking For:


o HLTA qualification or equivalent (Level 4 or above).


o Previous experience working in a similar role, ideally within a primary or secondary school setting.


o Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.


o Excellent communication skills and a team player.


o A patient, calm, and flexible approach to working with children.
