What you'll be responsible for

Join the Welsh Water Transport team and apply your technical expertise on the fleet that provides water to a nation. It's challenging, complex, fascinating and dynamic and you'll get to use all of your HGV experience as well as learning new skills when you become part of the team that maintains the fleet and all of the specialist ancillary equipment that we operate as a major water utility.

As a credible member of the Transport team you will:

Be part of the team which maintains, services and repairs the DCWW vehicle fleet. You will work in a professional environment and support the team and the wider business in keeping the fleet in the best possible condition through the highest standards of maintenance.

As an HGV Transport Technician you will:

Ensure that the DCWW fleet is maintained at least in line with MOT / DVSA standards Support the performance of the Team by working in a professional and efficient way Ensure that all aspects of vehicle and plant maintenance are completed, including paperwork and job card / record keeping Support the team in achieving safety, performance and budget targets Respond to customer requests and requirements as necessary

Principal Accountabilities

Inspection of HGV Vehicles and Trailers as well as water and wastewater tankers, Unimogs, curtainsiders and other specialist vehicles to at least DVSA standards Preparation of HGV Vehicle and Trailers for periodic and Annual Plating test Carry out the routine servicing of vehicles in line with manufacturers standards Repair and maintain vehicles and plant in a safe and roadworthy condition and in line with MOT / DVSA standards Purchase all materials from nominated suppliers Carry out all work in accordance with the company's Health And Safety policy and systems Available for Standby / Callout on a schedule rota system

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Full UK Driving Licence NVQ Level 3 - OR - City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy vehicle Technology with post apprenticeship experience on HGV's (or equivalent) Experienced in maintaining commercial vehicles / LGVs to DVSA standards A good knowledge of health and safety requirements in vehicle maintenance Competent basic computer skills Good customer service skills The ability to work on your own initiative, to plan and organise workloads and to complete all necessary documentation

Good to know

Shift pattern: Monday - Thursday 8am-4pm and Fridays 8am-3.30pm.
