Who we are Upper Severn Herd is a high yielding housed dairy herd with a great young team. Our all-year-round calving pedigree award winning dairy herd of 300 cows yield 11,000 litres and are milked twice a day through a 20:20 herringbone parlour with ADF, auto i.d. and milk meters. Our facilities are well invested and modern, having been designed around the comfort and welfare of our cows utilising modern cubicles and matts bedded with sawdust using UniformAgri and NMR to monitor and record herd performance with Genus RMS for reproductive services. All youngstock are reared to calve into the herd at 24 months of age. Diets are based on full TMR consisting of Multicut grass silage, Maize silage and blend and supplements. The Role You will work closely alongside the farm owner, and other staff members with the main role being milking and management tasks. You would also input into other tasks with the team as and when required. Working routine is typically 11.5 days on and 2.5 off including evening checks. This role is based at our site just outside Welshpool, Powys. The package will be commensurate with experience, including accommodation on site. The adjoining village contains a primary school with the farm being 2 miles away from the main town which has a secondary school, leisure centre, train access, supermarkets and numerous shops and amenities. Who are we looking for? We are looking for an enthusiastic and keen member to join our young team with a commitment to our business and instinct for attention to detail. You will need to demonstrate experience in agriculture, but we are willing to invest in the right individual with the required training. You will be highly motivated taking on responsibility to support moving the farm forward and operating to high health and welfare standards. All necessary training will be provided, and the business has a great track record with training apprentices and team members.
