The purpose of this role is to support the business in managing its risk profile to achieve its business plan and component objectives safely. You will identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks at business unit levels.
This position offers flexible working arrangements, with up to two days per week in the Guildford office.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa 37,000 per annum.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
In this key role, you will maintain and update system documentation, facilitate audits, and ensure supplier compliance in collaboration with external bodies. You will organise and analyse risk assessment data, manage health and safety protocols, and conduct thorough investigations, implementing corrective and preventative actions where required.
Below are your key responsibilities, along with the essential and desirable skills needed to achieve these goals:
Maintain and update system documentation.
Conduct audits against ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 17020 requirements, accommodate auditors, and collaborate with external bodies such as UKAS and LRQA.
Assess suppliers to ensure they meet compliance requirements.
Organise and analyse data for risk assessments, complete health and safety questionnaires, manage permits to work, and conduct thorough accident and near-miss investigations. Document findings and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Prioritise and manage administrative duties, take minutes for the engineering health and safety committee, and ensure follow-up on actions.
Assist in the ongoing improvement of processes to enhance operational effectiveness.
Engage stakeholders for input on risk analyses, advising managers and leaders within your expertise, and escalating issues beyond your scope to appropriate experts.
Essential Skills
Understanding of business operations and risks within an Engineering Inspection company.
Knowledge of Operational Risk Management principles and their application in managing business, regulatory, and external risks.
Ability to clearly communicate risk concepts to non-experts, both orally and in writing.
Experience in challenging managerial decisions across all levels.
Experience in balancing risk management with commercial objectives to achieve business goals within risk appetite.
Desirable Skills
Training will be provided as needed, but the following are advantageous: Familiarity with ISO standards such as ISO 17020 (quality), ISO 45001 (health and safety), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 9001 (quality).
Experience with Q-Pulse/Quality software.
Experience with Ariba for invoices and payments.
Membership in the Chartered Quality Institute or IOSH.
A Qualified internal auditor or NEBOSH general certificate.
