Permanent full time Mon to Fri - 37hrs based at the organisations Milton Keynes site.

This large organisation set in beautiful grounds is looking for a site based Health and Safety advisor who would be prepared to be able to travel to other sites across the UK a few times a year.

The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or an NVQ 4/NVQ 5 in Health and Safety with IOSH Membership and/ or a proven working background in a Health and Safety capacity.

Key responsibilities of the Health and Safety Advisor/Health and safety officer role are

To develop, review and implement health and safety policies, arrangements and health and safety guidance in line with current health and safety legislation ensuring that any changes are communicated to relevant parties and that new and/or updated documents are implemented throughout the University.

Provide professional, competent and timely advice, supporting Units on the implementation of the required health and safety policies arrangements and health and safety guidance to enable them to make appropriate decisions/take appropriate action to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.

Investigate accidents/ incidents in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation. Ensure compliance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2012 by reporting to the relevant enforcing authority.

Provide effective monitoring of health and safety performance including working with external health and safety auditors and undertaking in house audits, safety inspections and emergency drills to ensure legal compliance, best practice and continual improvement.

Develop and maintain the Health and Safety intranet website in liaison with other members of the Health and Safety team and other key stakeholders where applicable.

Contribute to and develop health and safety communications including email, intranet, newsletters, updates and seminars.

Coordinate and liaise with People Services on policies and procedures that incorporate health, safety and wellbeing.
