As the Health & Safety Advisor for our East Kilbride facilities, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and promoting robust Health & Safety policies. This role reports to the UK H&S Manager, but functionally you will be the principal advisor to the T\xc3\x9cV S\xc3\x9cD National Engineering Laboratory leadership team for all matters related to H&S, and your expertise will contribute to ensuring a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment for our team. This is a part-time role over three days per week, based on our East Kilbride site. We are flexible on which days you work, so please let us know your preference.
You will be responsible for:
Collaborate with management and employees to develop, implement, and maintain effective health and safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and risks and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Stay up to date with relevant health and safety regulations and standards, and ensure company compliance.
Deliver training sessions and workshops to educate employees about safe work practices and procedures.
Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and suggesting preventive measures.
Assist in the development of emergency response plans and procedures.
Ownership of safety records and documentation.
Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all levels of the organization.
Chairing local Health and Safety Committee meetings.
Your Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
Experience in Health & Safety within an engineering or process industries environment.
Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations (e.g., electrical systems, chemicals, working at height, pressure systems, etc.).
Minimum Level 3 Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH GC, NCRQ or equivalent).
Membership of a recognized professional body (IOSH, IIRSM, IEMA).
Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
A pragmatic approach to risk management.
Accident and incident investigation knowledge.
Strong interpersonal and report writing skills.
Proficiency in IT.
Desirable Criteria:
The following qualifications and experiences are advantageous:
Level 5/6 qualification in Health, Safety, or Environmental subject (NEBOSH, NCRQ).
Level 5/6 qualification (Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
Experience in implementing or managing safety and environmental policies.
