Job Description


To be the first point of contact for patients. To assist in the provision of the service and contribute to the effective running of the Department ensuring they contribute towards a quality patient experience.To assist registered nursing staff with the provision of individualised care of patients as well as assess patients obtaining their height, weight, BP, ECG, MRSA & CPR screening - action results.To provide care and support to relatives and carers attending the Department.The applicant is expected to be an effective member of the team and contribute to the best possible use of resources and must be able to work under their own initiative.To provide clinical and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team.To gather Information from other trusts, MDT team, GP, etc and assist and help in the clinics, pre op, ambulatory & C3. And partake on urinary analysis.Main duties of the job

  • Assist in preparation and cleaning of the environment pre and post clinics. To ensure all equipment is available? Replenishing and maintaining agreed stocks of surgical supplies? To undertake and be responsible for routine tasks under the supervision of the registered nurse e.g., preparation of notes and equipment for the clinicsTo carry out taking of blood (venepuncture and hemocue) and track case notes.
  • Making appointments occasionally? Printing out MRSA, CPE and bloods request fords.? MRSA swab testing for all patients apart from day cases? Various screening tests - urine testing of midstream urine sample, CPE rectal swabs pregnancy testing if indicated,? Perform and accurately record baseline observations e.g., baseline observations including blood pressure, ECG recording, weight, height, body mass index and to inform qualified staff of any abnormal recordings? To know clinical requirements for ECG, i.e., thyroid, PR, Diabetes, high B/P etc to highlight problems. e.g., fast or slow heart rate but no past medical history needs ECG. Able to manage number of patients e.g., walkovers.? To assist in obtaining results and investigations and to communicate with the multidisciplinary team, Inc. G. P's and other hospitals, under the guidance/supervision of a registered nurse? Provide and receive information in relation to patients and escalate as appropriate to registered nurse e.g., receive phone calls from patients and take messages for the pre-operative practitioners
