Colliery Court Medical Group is a GP practice based is Boldon Colliery, Tyne and Wear. We are a very busy practice and have approx. 8400 patients registered with us.
Our Practice Team consists of 6 GP's, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 GP Assistant, Pharmacy team, and 15 clerical team members.
Summary of Role
We are looking to recruit a motivated and committed Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.
The post will be up to 37.5 hours per week which will include an evening shift until 8pm every Wednesday.
You will be working alongside our existing Practice Nurses and GP Assistants but be confident and skilled enough to work alone.
Experience of dressings, health checks, administering basic vaccinations, phlebotomy, performing ECG's, and assisting in minor surgery sessions would be desirable, although we can offer training.
You will be a team player, able to prioritise your workload and remain calm under pressure.

Main Duties
Phlebotomy
Deliver vaccinations and immunisations - flu, pneumo, B12s, shingles under a patient specific direction.
Carry out ECGs as requested.
Carry out baseline observations such as blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight, body mass index, visual acuity, spirometry
Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
Undertake wound care, dressings and suture/clip removal
Provide support during minor surgery as required.
Maintain adequate stock in clinical rooms and undertake monthly stock control for drug cupboard and drug drawer.
Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.
Act as a chaperone where required.
