Manpower are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Health and Safety Manager based in Letchworth on a permanent basis.
Our client is a well-known manufacturer in their field, supporting their customers with bespoke projects from design right through to installation.
To be successful in this role, experience as a health and safety manager within a manufacturing background is preferred.
Main Duties:
To carry out management system audits and inspections and manage a programme of corrective/preventative actions for continuous improvement to ensure the highest standards in technical competence and safe working practices are met. To develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement. To monitor, review, improve and amend the Integrated Management Systems to ensure continual improvement and compliance. To support with co-ordination and completion of Environmental management, OHSM audits and support operational teams with external audits. To support the implementation, design, and development of risk management processes, including Risk Assessment, COSHH Assessment, Fire Risk Assessment and Compliance audits. To keep all company accreditation\'s up to date. To develop and complete HS&E Statutory Health, Safety and Environment Compliance audits and site safety inspections. To support production of safe systems of work and associated risk management documentation. To support delivery of health and safety inductions for new starters. To identify knowledge or skill gaps (specific focus on safety, company policies and procedures) and implement supportive corrective actions to meet these needs to help ensure competency levels are attained and maintained. To provide training and coaching to operational teams in specific matters. To deliver oversight and assurance to directors and managers of risks, recommend and implement solutions to improve the level of compliance and regulatory risk control and ensure breaches are addressed. To compile reports to inform the operations director and other directors of internal audit findings, risk profiles, non-conformity to contractual or external audits and incident trends in order to facilitate improvement. To identify and understand the health, safety, environmental and associated legal requirements. To lead accident and incident investigations, utilising root cause analysis and provide advice to operational teams on effective preventative measures to reduce risk. To provide concise, factual, and accurate information through status reports to the operations director, ensuring all information is available to enable effective decisions and improvements to be made. To assist with completion of employees return to work forms after sickness absence. To attend to other duties and tasks as directed by the operations director.
Person Specification, Qualifications & Training:
5 years\' experience within a full time Health & Safety/Environment role (manufacturing background) Membership of IOSH at Tech IOSH level (or similar) NEBOSH General Certificate Internal auditing/management experience of ISO Qualifications in Fire Safety & Fire Risk Assessment (desirable) Computer literate Experience in dealing with external auditors Practical experience of producing procedures, risk assessments, method statements Microsoft efficient Attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently Able to organise own workload and prioritise tasks A strong commitment to high quality customer service
