This is an exciting role for a proactive and ambitious health and safety professional to join the health and safety team supporting staff and students in UAL\'s academic institutes, professional services teams and central support departments on all aspects of Health and Safety.
The role is part of the University\'s health and safety team and it reports to the Head of Health and Safety (College and Support Services)
In addition to providing face to face and remote advice and support on health and safety matters relating, you will also be responsible for: engaging departments in health and safety; supporting development of annual health and safety plans; undertaking inspections; monitoring compliance; supporting risk assessment, investigating accidents and incidents, and producing health and safety reports. You will also delivery health and safety training and participate in relevant committee meetings.
The role is based at 272 High Holborn, and some travel will be required between UAL sites to attend meetings and support the wider H&S team.
About you
The post holder will be authoritative, authentic and credible, with an ability to challenge constructively, engage colleagues and build solid, effective and enduring relationships.
The successful candidate will have excellent health and safety knowledge and be able to evidence how they have applied that knowledge in the workplace. They will hold a level 5 or 6 H&S Diploma .e.g. NEBOSH or NCRQ, or equivalent professional qualification) and be at least a graduate member of IOSH working towards Chartered status. Experience of advising on health and safety within a creative, or complex and dynamic environment is essential.
You will be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of ongoing maintenance of professional competence as a Graduate or Chartered member of IOSH.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication, including a high standard of written work.
The first interview will be on 12 July at the High Holborn offices. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a site walk around with key stakeholders on 18 July. This will take place at one of our college locations in West London.
Candidates will need to prepare and give a short 10 minute presentation at the first interview describing what makes them the best person for the role.
