Description
Health and Safety Advisor required to join an established SHEQ team at a Highways and Roadways maintenance contractor to provide support primarily across the North East and Yorkshire region. As the Health and Safety Advisor you will assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of the company health, safety, quality, and environmental policies.
You will carry out an ongoing programme of site audits throughout the region, ensuring all supervisors are regularly audited.
Duties include:
Working with site management to ensure all training needs are met.
Safe excavation and cable avoidance.
Ensuring compliance with legislation, industry, and company standards.
Reporting accurately on all Health and Safety matters.
Providing Health and Safety support service to site crews.
Assisting the Health and Safety Manager as and when required.
There will be a requirement to work at night and occasional weekends on the Motorways and Trunk Roads and work away from home.

Experience You will ideally have existing experience of the Highways sector. Knowledge of the Strategic Road Network with an understanding of Highways England\xe2\x80\x99s Home, Safe and Well aspirations and the Raising the Bar requirements. Other infrastructure experience can be considered. i.e. Rail and utilities. Experience of supporting external ISO Audits. Knowledge of developing and maintaining RAMS and working with the Operational Teams. Experience of delivering internal training (Inductions, safety training courses, briefings etc.) Qualifications NEBOSH General Certificate / Construction Certificate and actively working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. Tech IOSH as a minimum. Internal Auditor qualification beneficial. A knowledge of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Management System Standards.
