Head Of The School Of Leadership, Management And Marketing , De Montfort University , Leicester, Salary From £84,000 To £88,000

Leicester, United Kingdom

Job Description

Located at the heart of historic Leicester, De Montfort University (DMU) views itself as in that its blueprint for the future is based around four key development themes;

n Learning for Life

n Knowledge Creation

n Empowering People

n Partnerships with Purpose

There are a number of strands contributing to this including (but not limited to) which is reimagining teaching and learning through a highly acclaimed block teaching approach, the promulgation of a research strategy that sits around five interdisciplinary themes and the opening of two new overseas campuses in Dubai and Kazakhstan.

DMU\'s campus has benefitted from a \xc2\xa3136 million transformation. It is home to around 20,000 students and organises itself across four Faculties. The role in question sits within the Faculty of Business and Law (BAL) based in the purpose-built Hugh Aston Building, with its new \xc2\xa35.5 million extension, The Yard, and in the sympathetically restored Leicester Castle, BAL is a truly global community of more than 8,000 students drawn from around 100 nations.

There are two entities within BAL; Leicester Castle Business School (LCBS) and Leicester De Montfort Law School (LDLS). This year, the faculty has been restructured to create two large schools within the LCBS: the School of Accounting, Finance and Economics and most importantly for this role, the School of Leadership, Management and Marketing. The Faculty is strongly focused on three areas of activity;

\xc2\xb7 Excellent learning and teaching

\xc2\xb7 Impactful research

\xc2\xb7 Enterprise development

There are also cross-cutting themes of sustainability, internationalisation and public good.

This is an opportunity for a first class senior academic to lead the School of Leadership, Management and Marketing. From a disciplinary perspective, the School is a highly diverse entity with over 130 members of staff. There is a large and growing international post graduate cohort and graduate outcomes are strong. It is also worth noting that the research portfolio is burgeoning and saw particularly good scores for impact in the last round of the Research Excellence Framework.

The role reports to the Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Staff Development Professor Heather McLaughlin and will be required to provide comprehensive leadership across the breadth of its activities. Applicants should have a strong personal academic profile and a real appetite to make a positive impact upon what is a very exciting chapter in DMU\'s history. Managerial experience is needed, but also a compelling vision as to how the School can contribute to the overall strategy and direction of travel.

Benefits

You will benefit from access to the Teachers\' Pension Scheme; 35 days annual leave plus concessionary days and Bank Holidays; career progression; employee perks; NUS discount card; free and confidential access to the Employee Assistance confidential helpline who provide support on a range of lifestyle issues; discounted gym membership; free library memberships; buy up to five days annual leave and the cycle to work scheme.
