About the Role:
We are recruiting a Head of Onward Environmental
(Interim)
to join our in-house environmental team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This role is home-based with no daily requirement to attend the office, but you will need to attend sites and meetings across our North West offices (Didsbury, Liverpool, and Accrington) as needed. A driving license and access to your own vehicle are required.
Job Purpose:
Lead colleagues and teams in delivering high-quality front-line environmental services, including grounds maintenance, arboriculture services, cleaning, window cleaning, and waste management across all neighbourhoods. Foster a culture of collaborative working with other teams across Onward (Customer Service, Repairs, Property, Neighbourhoods, and Home Ownership) to ensure seamless service delivery to our customers and communities.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Waste Management Services:
Develop and deliver a comprehensive cleaning and waste management strategy, including communal cleaning, window cleaning, and waste management.
Maximize operational service delivery, achieving high standards, and ensuring adherence to best practices, relevant legislation, and compliance.
Identify opportunities for income generation.
Adhere to all relevant health and safety best practices and legislation.
Grounds Maintenance & Arboriculture Services:
Develop and deliver a comprehensive environmental management strategy, including grounds maintenance, arboriculture, and gritting services.
Maximize operational service delivery, achieving high standards, and ensuring adherence to best practices, relevant legislation, and compliance.
Identify opportunities for income generation.
Adhere to all relevant health and safety best practices and legislation.
Collaborative Approach:
Work with customers and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and positive customer experience, listening to customer needs and enabling customer involvement in service delivery.
Contract Management:
Ensure effective contract management to achieve the greatest value for money and best service for our customers.
Service Charges:
Lead on setting service charges for Onward Environmental, maximizing service charge recovery, and achieving value for money for customers.
Management, Leadership, and Culture Change:
Plan and manage budgets, resources, and priorities of teams, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources to deliver agreed performance targets and customer satisfaction.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the organization based on Onward Values.
Partnership Working:
Identify, build, and develop an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships that represent the interests of the organization.
Be an ambassador for the organization and an advocate for customers.
Essential:
Proven track record of leading diverse, remote teams to achieve high performance, including matrix management.
Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in waste management.
Extensive expertise in Grounds Maintenance and Arboriculture.
Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
Successful track record in delivering a variety of housing specialisms.
Proven experience in collaborating with and influencing external partners.
Skilled in translating strategic objectives into actionable operational plans and executing them effectively.
Proficient in analysing complex data to inform strategic business decisions.
Experienced in leading and nurturing talent.
Competent in setting service charges and managing budgets.
Proactive in developing services and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate level.
Essential:
Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/ experience
