We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Healthcare to join the team at HMP Winchester, a Category B remand prison located in the centre of Winchester. You will be joining a well staffed and fully integrated healthcare team on site supports around 700 men delivering primary care, mental health, substance misuse and pharmacy services.We are looking for someone with excellent people management skills, who is able to integrated into the large team and be an advocate for healthcare services within the prison. This is a unique opportunity to manage the healthcare department by leading on, and maintaining the service as agreed with NHS England. You will be a valued member of the senior leadership team within the prison, ensuring that the healthcare division is fully embedded within the prison.How will we support you?

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.Interviews will be held on 5th MarchWhat you'll be doingAs our new Head of Healthcare, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
  • Provide management of the healthcare services on site, with overall responsibility for delivering a highly functional clinical service, within agreed budgets
  • Maintain the strategic direction of the service, and deliver on agreed contractual requirements and targets from NHS England
  • Lead, develop and motivate your team to deliver the best service possible
  • Work closely with senior management within the prison, as well as the finance business partner and regional manager

  • Degree or appropriate equivalent level of experience or clinical qualification
  • Inclusive leadership approach embedding a culture of continuous progression and innovation

  • Experience as a CQC registered manager, or equivalent registered body
  • Experience managing multifaceted budgets
  • Experience of client management or meeting commissioner expectations
