Health and Safety Degree Qualified (or experience equivalent to a degree).

Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards

Accident Investigation Training

A minimum of 7 years' health and safety management experience within the construction industry, or demonstrable equivalent gained through a combination of knowledge, qualifications, and relevant industry experience.

Fully aware of regulatory, legislative and industry standards.

Ensure the Construction Phase Plan is fit for purpose, reviewed regularly, and updated in line with project developments.

Ensure emergency arrangements and plans are suitable, tested, communicated and reviewed throughout the project.

Develop and implement a comprehensive HSW strategy tailored to the complexity of a major tunnelling environment.

Ensuring compliance with STRABAG UK, legal and industry HSW requirements and standards including BSI 6164.

Set up and manage integrated HSW management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and best practice, with consideration for ISO 45003 (psychosocial risk).

Oversee the delivery of occupational health provision and proactive wellbeing initiatives, ensuring all personnel have access to appropriate health surveillance, support services, and campaigns that promote physical and mental wellbeing.

Produce mobilisation guidance and lead early-phase HSW planning to ensure readiness for safe delivery.

Ensure HSW is embedded into design and planning activities in line with CDM 2015.

Ensure clear communication of HSW requirements and expectations across all levels of the project and supply chain.

Support the identification, sharing and embedding of lessons learned and best practice across the project and wider organisation.

Work collaboratively with regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE), industry groups and external stakeholders to ensure transparency, compliance and influence best practice.

Build trusted relationships across client, contractor and delivery partner teams.

Engage with the supply chain to align expectations, raise standards, and drive collaborative improvement.

Act as a visible and influential HSW leader across all levels of the project.

Oversee the implementation and monitoring of Better Together behavioural change programme focused on engagement, leadership, and learning.

Lead initiatives that align with ISO 45003, promoting psychological safety, inclusion, and mental health support.

Work closely with other departments including People Operations, People and Culture, Quality, Environmental &

Sustainability and EDI teams to embed a culture of care and respect.

Establish and oversee HSW assurance processes, including internal and contractor audits, inspections, and performance reviews.

Develop audit frameworks to verify compliance with legal, client and project-specific requirements.

Provide assurance reporting to the senior leadership team and external stakeholders.

Set measurable HSW targets and expectations for the supply chain and monitor delivery against them.

Support project leadership in implementing effective performance management processes, including regular performance reviews and feedback loops.

Ensure project teams have access to timely, relevant HSW performance data and use it to inform decisions and continuous improvement.

Provide regular HSW performance reports and insights to the senior leadership team and into STRABAG UK's governance structures.

Implement robust HSW reporting systems and dashboards, using data and insights to drive decision-making.

Track and report leading and lagging indicators, trends, and improvement actions.

Contribute to regular governance reviews, board updates and client-facing reporting packs.

Lead or support investigations of incidents, applying root cause analysis and ensuring learnings are captured and shared.

Ensure close-out and verification of corrective and preventative actions across the project and supply chain.

Ensure all project staff and leaders receive HSW training relevant to their roles and responsibilities.

Provide leadership and direction to the HSW team, including contractor HSW representatives
