About the role
As the Head of Forest Carbon here at Drax, you\'ll be responsible for tracking science and practice relating to forest carbon monitoring, accounting, and reporting. You\'ll develop the group overall approach to forest carbon and inclusion of forest carbon in emissions reporting.

Day to Day, you\'ll lead the tracking of the climate change science and the international response to this working within internal and scientific stage - on forest carbon (and linked energy) science. You\'ll represent Drax on the circuit, influencing those debates where necessary and reporting trends back to leadership.

Serving as the chair of the internal Forest and Land Carbon Expert Group, you\'ll ensure that work in this subject meets the standards and processes set out in the science and evidence policy. You\'ll be at home tracking, influencing, developing and implementing processes around reporting and accounting land sector GHG emissions.

You\'ll support the development of lifecycle analysis (LCA)-based approaches to assessing the forest carbon impact of forest products, from not only forest but the entire value chain of biomass and other forests products.

You\'ll play a fundamental part in enabling us to achieve our goal of being a carbon negative company by 2030 and meeting its carbon reduction targets set for 2030 and formally Net-Zero by 2050.

About you
You\'ll have extensive knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis and carbon monitoring and accounting methodologies relevant to biomass and bioenergy. This\'ll include estimation of direct and indirect land use change emissions, counterfactual modelling, and approaches for calculating forest carbon emissions, and include in depth knowledge of corporate emission reporting standards (e.g., GHG protocol) and voluntary carbon market standards

You\'ll possess a strategic and creative mindset, alongside being able to structure insights and evidence into a compelling narrative for how to realise business opportunities or overcome business challenges, and ability to innovate and instigate new ideas

You\'ll have the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. A confident communicator and influencer; you\'ll have the ability to interpret and simplify complex information to various audiences including senior leadership and key external stakeholders.
