The role
As a Head of Engineering - Future, you\'ll have a role that\'s out of the ordinary. You\'ll be optimising the engineering support Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) provides in partnership with our Submarine Delivery Agency customers, and collaboratively in a wider enterprise. This role will help to shape and deliver a future state of SSE.

Day to day you\'ll work with the wider Naval Nuclear Leadership team to help move it toward a future where its contribution to the mission is greater than it is today. You will shine a light through the complexity and generate the right direction, sensitive to the pressures, constraints and priorities ourselves and our partners are subject to.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Identifying the opportunities and routes to increase the effect of our engineering endeavours on submarine availability.
• In conjunction with our engineering leadership team, implement changes to our ways of working, our arrangements and our capabilities in support of the SSE mission.
• Developing, in conjunction with wider Enterprise Partners, the necessary change to support the UK submarine programme of the future.

This is a full time role where we offer hybrid working with a requirement to work on site at Babcock Technology Centre, Bristol and remotely.

Essential experience of the Head of Engineering - Future:

• In depth working knowledge and extensive experience of the submarine support enterprise. Product (submarine) knowledge would be highly advantageous.
• Experience of relevant roles in both the customer and industrial domains, to be able to understand the opportunities and constraints from both perspectives.
• Demonstrable track record of delivering the requisite change in business approach and capability to ultimately deliver those benefits.
• Clear understanding of the science of change and the hearts and minds aspects associated with it.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation, including internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications for the Head of Engineering - Future:

• Be a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate Engineering Council Professional Institute or have extensive experience in the field and qualifications and/or professional memberships that can be considered to equate

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
