Job Description


Due to continued growth, the position of Head of Cost Engineering has become available to join and lead our Advisory Consultancy Cost Engineering Teamas part of the PMO.

As Head of Cost Engineering, reporting to the Discipline Lead for Project Management Office (PMO) & Project Controls you will be responsible for leading and developing the Advisory Consultancy Cost Engineering team in an established, growing Award-Winning infrastructure consultancy service.

This home-based role will be hybrid with travel to clients and site attendance as and when required.

Please note potential candidates for this role must be able to obtain and retain Security clearance to be able to be considered for this position.

You will lead the growth in technical offering, revenue, profit, headcount and market presence within the team whilst also taking responsibility for the provision of a quality service to internal stakeholders.

You will work closely with the Planning Manager and the Head of Information and Knowledge Management and project stakeholders to provide a quality and consistent consultancy project control service to commissions across all sectors.

Alongside your duties as a PMO leader you will also be expected to provide hands on cost engineering services. You will be working within project teams providing an integrated, timely and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders.

You will work with sector and consultancy leads to gain a deep understanding of internal and customer requirements, then shape and develop the team to meet the needs of the sectors

You will oversee rapid recruitment (strategic hiring) for sustainability and growth. To recruit the necessary skilled personnel to the cost team to ensure sustainable operation in all discipline activities and ensure that the optimum balance is achieved between the use of staff and agency workers.

You will ensure that suitably qualified and experienced cost engineering resources are provided to projects in a timely manner whilst ensuring that departmental utilisation targets are achieved

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience of managing a team in a PMO environment
  • Hold a bachelor\'s degree or equivalent
  • Have at least 10 years post qualification experience in a project management and project controls role within the infrastructure sector
  • Flexibility to work across the UK
  • Line/Department Management experience essential
  • Develop a vision and technical strategy for the discipline, identifying and addressing gaps in service offering
