An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist with an interest in lymphoma and General Haematology to join the team at Withybush General hospital. We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team as we start to introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provide a comprehensive haematology service in the four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Lymphoma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board and will continue to develop as part of the wider transformation process. Support for the post includes Associate Specialists, Specialty Doctors, Clinical Fellow as well as foundation Trainees. The team also includes Haematology CNS team and Specialist pharmacists.We are looking for someone to contribute to our current service redesign and will be aiming to;-Promote the delivery of local treatments and care for our patients.Develop improvement and increased performance in the service.Bring about a single health board wide haematology service delivered across the four hospital sites.Drive quality and governance throughout to improve patient experience and outcomes.Introduce more subspecialisation within Haematology.Aid in the delivery of a digital network for morphology.Support the All Wales haematology services such as the All Wales Lymphoma Panel etc. The Welsh haematology community have regular meetings together and undertake collaborative projects.Applicants will be expected to hold their CCT or be within 6 months of award of CCT in Haematology (or equivalent) by the time of interview.Our staff are at the heart of the quality of our service and are looking to add to our numbers. We are looking for someone to bring additional expertise and a passion to provide excellence.Main duties of the jobClinical - The appointee should be able to demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology. The successful candidate will develop this subspecialty across the health board and working alongside the generalist consultants.Inpatients - The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Haverfordwest site. At the three peripheral sites, the contribution is consultative to the local medical team.Outpatients - The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, within Lymphoma and General Haematology. Consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on applicant's experience to date.There is a weekly health board wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.
