Bury Council has an exciting position for a suitably qualified and experienced Transportation professional to manage our Transportation Group within Engineering Services.
The successful candidate will support the Head of Service in providing strategic leadership on all Highway Transportation matters, developing the Council\xe2\x80\x99s Transport Policies and Strategies, working closely with planning colleagues and TfGM.
As a Group Manager - Transportation, within our Engineering Services team you will:
\xc2\xb7 Be responsible for the day to day management of the Transportation Group, which includes our Car Parking Services, Public Rights of Way and Road Safety teams.
\xc2\xb7 Co-ordinate the preparation of initial concept scheme designs, scheme consultations and provide strategic direction on high profile regeneration and infrastructure schemes, including active travel, bus priority, road safety and highway improvements.
\xc2\xb7 Prepare and present to Planning Committee on all aspects of transportation.
\xc2\xb7 Prepare and review design briefs for highway and transportation schemes.
You must be self-motivated and able to work independently and with initiative, prioritising workloads, managing delegated budgets and meeting deadlines.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to work at pace in order to meet the demands of a challenging and varied workload.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week, with attendance at evening meetings in accordance with the needs of the service. The salary for this position is Grade 17, \xc2\xa349,590 to \xc2\xa350,600 per annum.
