The role

The Group Financial Reporting Manager works to ensure the business has accurate, audited & compliant financial reporting to meet statutory & other external obligations. This includes financial reporting, filed accounts, tax planning & compliance and reporting obligations to investors and lenders.

ANS Group is a large and growing independent private equity backed digital transformation services business. Our team of [700] staff includes industry leading tech expertise and customer account teams, supported by a group finance team of 35 across operational finance, financial reporting, and commercial finance. The Financial Reporting Manager will work in the Financial Reporting and Control team which includes a Financial Controller and two small teams led by Finance Managers.

What will I be doing?

The Financial Reporting Manager will work with the Financial Control & Reporting team, senior finance leadership (up to CFO) and at time the board & investors to ensure the group accounts are accurate and timely, including responsibility for non-trading/financing accounting & legal entities, lead the audit assurance working constructively with independent audit teams, tax planning and compliance with expert outside advisors.

  • Play a key role in the month end cycle & creation of clear management accounts, helping to create a slick process to enable the production of insightful reports for management which are well controlled and require little adjustment at year-end.
  • Preparing, with senior support, financial MI reporting packs for external banks, lenders and investors with due care to explain the variance from budgets/reforecasts.
  • Help to implement and oversee controls; foster confidence and pride in the team, encouraging them to question and challenge in order to help to create a first-class finance function. Redefining processes, making improvements, adding value & getting exposure to senior leadership.
  • Lead on group/central accounting work including loan note and equity issues, intangible assets impairment reviews, staff cost capitalisation, R&D tax credit claims and other fair-value and technical accounting matters.
  • Lead the audit cycle with group auditors, from planning through interim controls testing and supporting the smooth operation of fieldwork, on time with open communication through to completion, audit sign-off and reporting to the audit committee. Review and implement controls & improvement recommendations made to the audit committee of the board.
  • Preparation and filing of annual statutory accounts for all group (UK) companies.
  • Lead, with external tax advisors, and submit the annual corporation tax returns / R&D tax credit claims and the VAT returns ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Prepare loan covenant calculations for the group\'s loan finance facilities.
  • Be involved in finance projects, including improving financial analysis and strengthening finance partnering across the Group.
  • Opportunity for involvement in M&A projects, pre and post deal.
What will I bring to the role?
  • Experience of group accounting and assurance e.g. consolidation, acquisition accounting, intangible asset accounting and external financing (debt and equity) etc.
  • Excellent project management skills with joint internal/external advisor teams
  • Able to solve problems whilst showing an ability to make process improvements and take ownership of key finance projects
  • A great team player, able to build rapport quickly whilst also coaching and developing junior team members
  • Relish working in an agile and fast paced environment where projects and new initiatives need to be managed alongside core month-end processes
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to work with the Financial Controller, Finance Director/CFO as well as other senior stakeholders to offer your opinion and work as a team to work in an efficient and commercial manner
  • A brilliant eye for detail, able to work in a smart & efficient manner whilst collaborating with auditors
  • Systems savvy, able to suggest and implement improvements and instil best practice
What is needed to do the role?
  • Qualified accountant ACA / ACCA with strong experience of the audit and assurance of trading groups.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills, including influence beyond reporting lines.
  • Good knowledge of accounting standards, preferably FRS 102 (UK GAAP)
  • Consolidation and acquisition accounting experience would be a plus.
  • Preference given to those with experience working in or with businesses that are: Private Equity backed; growth focused; entrepreneurial; and fast paced.
