The Role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Group Financial Accountant will have responsibility for the central cost centre accounting, monthly group consolidation and reporting. They will also be responsible for the year end audit. They will be discreet and keep information they work with confidential. The Group Financial Accountant will be professionally qualified, a good communicator, and a self-starter who can initiate and manage work autonomously. This role will be based in the London Office 3-4 days a week.
Key responsibilities:
Preparation of monthly management accounts for all the central cost centre divisions including prepayments, accruals, FX revaluations, balance sheet reconciliations
Business partner with heads of the central divisions (HR, Legal, Finance, Operations, IT, Commercial) providing them with regular finance reports including variance analysis
Preparation of budgets and regular reforecasts of the central divisions working closely with the divisional heads
Preparation of fortnightly 16-week cashflow forecasts for the central divisions
Review of group intercompany mismatches and working with Finance Business Partners to resolve; assist in set up of intercompany loan documentation when relevant
Preparation of monthly Group consolidation (incl. exceptionals), including posting relevant consolidation journals, ensuring that all accounting and consolidation processes are carried out accurately and efficiently
Assist in preparation of Board reports in line with agreed timescales
Leading the annual external audit process being day-to-day point of contact with auditors
Preparation of consolidation statutory accounts under FRS102 for both the consolidated group as well as all of the stand-alone entities
Assist with Corporation Tax compliance processes, working with external tax advisors
Act as the finance expert on all accounting matters including under FRS102
Office of National Statistics reporting
System administrator for the finance accounting system
Contribute towards process improvement and policy development initiatives
Other ad hoc work and projects as necessary for the GFC and CFO to improve, automate and tighten month end, audit and ongoing finance processes, systems and activities.
Essential Skills and Experience
Accountancy Qualification: ACA, ACCA or equivalent
3 to 5 years post qualified experience
Experience of multi-currency consolidations and group reporting
Experience in a leveraged environment
Experience of reporting under tight deadlines
Experience in dealing with non-finance stakeholders
Excellent experience and skills using a wide variety of accounting systems
Excellent excel skills, strong analysis and presentation skills
Desirable Skills and Experience
Proven experience in successful external audit process & deadline, working with professional advisors
Experience in acquisition accounting an advantage
