About the role

QinetiQ, a leading global defence and security company, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team at the Boscombe Down (BCEE) site. As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our facilities and surrounding areas are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing.

This unique position operates from QinetiQ\'s Ministry of Defence owned site, in a beautiful area of the country. Often acting as host to multiple clients and respective professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone within a grounds maintenance environment looking to progress their career, with unique opportunities to skill-share with opportunities to learn from other external teams as well as professionals on-site. In this position, there is an incredibly varied array of work, where no one day is likely to look the same. You\'ll be supporting a fantastic team with a great culture.

What will you be doing?
You will have direct points of contact, acting as mentors during your on-boarding to the position. With training and support, you will come into the business to provide various support in the following areas;

• Deliver specialist grounds services; including attention to pest & tree hazards

• Maintain knowledge / awareness of grounds / land legislative, standards & technical requirements & developments
• Prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs
• Form part of the on call rota during periods of inclement weather; supporting site preparations & response to enable ongoing safe access / use of premises
• Ensure robust application of health, safety & environmental procedures & processes
• Ensure maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level
• Oversee the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation & performance of tasks allocated
• Identify & ensure all key assets are available and appropriately maintained; making recommendations on improvements & additional requirements to FM / Business leads, as appropriate.

• Ability to organise / prioritise work
• Ability to thrive as part of a team and work independently where appropriate
• You\'ll need a Full driving licence
• Ability to safely deploy equipment/processes
• Manual Handling awareness /risk appreciation
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Proven track record in Grounds maintenance role(s)
• Robust understanding of grounds & pest control legislation; including environmental constraints

Previous experience and working knowledge of health and safety, robust understanding of grounds & pest control legislation; including environmental constraints, manual handling and risk management are all highly desirable criteria.
