Making an Impact
Our SMART lighting control solutions have a real focus on being

of people. Inside our Agile R&D organization, we are developing new IoT solutions with products ranging from our own hardware and embedded software products and sensors to mobile applications, developer APIs, and cloud services.
We are now looking for our 2025 intake of Graduate Test Engineer to learn and support our R&D teams at our Dartford Office. You will spend the initial 12 months as a graduate, where you will be mainly exposed to different areas of our Software R&D product development lifecycle, and possibly in the future working with the following development teams: Embedded, Software, Cloud, and System Testing.
Over the past two years we have had fantastic graduates join us and move into full time roles making a big impact in our Embedded, Software and Testing teams. The teams they have joined has been determined by a combination of their interest and the business needs.
Main purpose of the role
Try out testing role while helping evolve our SMART building Solution, learn more about quality assurance principles, methods, and tools by creating and executing end-to-end testing activities, as part of intelligent lighting control applications development.
Some of the things you may do on the program:
Learning the functionality of Helvar products by focusing on designing tests including functional & non-functional, progression & regression, manual and automated tests on different levels of test pyramid
Execution of test cases by following the existing test plans
Contributing to maintenance of test plans, test cases, and test scripts
Contributing to test environments creation, configuration and maintenance
Investigating problems in lighting components and systems, collaborating with engineering teams, developers and testers, for quick resolutions
Documenting test results, collecting logs, and preparing test reports for key stakeholders
Some skills we'd love you to have:
Studying or possessing Engineering degree in Software Development / Computer Science or Electronics
Foundational knowledge in testing: principles of designing, prioritising tests and executing test activities and understanding their purpose
Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Robot Framework, Pytest or Cypress
An understanding of CI (continuous integration) tools and development lifecycle
Understanding of version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket
Understanding of the Agile software development methodologies to apply them in projects
Strong teamwork skills are essential, as this role requires frequent interaction with individuals across various roles in the team
The ability to recognize when to seek guidance and direction from others is crucial
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
