GEOTECHNICAL / GEOENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

We require a Geotechnical / Geo-environmental Engineer to assist and write technical reports, and carry out site works on a wide variety of sites.

What the Role Entails.

As a Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer at Sub Surface, you'll play a pivotal role in the success of our projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Getting your Hands Dirty

- Logging soil and rock samples in accordance with British Standards and Eurocode 7.

Factual and Technical Reporting

- Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Intrusive Geotechnical and Environmental Reports, Phase 3 Remediation Statements, Phase 4 Validation Reports on a wide range of projects.

Project Management

- Setting up, organising and supervising a wide variety of site investigation contracts, plus liaising with sub-contractors and Clients on site.

Hands on Fieldwork

- Excavation of trial pits to assess the ground conditions, obtain samples for contamination analysis, expose foundations and services. Plus carrying out in-situ tests: plate bearing, CBR, soakaways, permeability tests, etc.

Monitoring

- Monitoring and sampling of standpipes for groundwater and landfill gas.

Has the Qualifications:

A B.Sc. / M.Sc. in a Geotechnical or Environmental related subject is essential.

Is Self-Motivated:

You should be able to work on your own initiative, taking ownership of projects.

Is a Great Communicator:

Effective communication with clients and sub-contractors is key to our success.

Isn't Afraid to Get Dirty:

We're a hands-on team, so don't be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved.

Has a Driving License:

A full driving license, preferably clean, is essential.

Employment Conditions and Benefits:

Salary: 25,000 - 27,000 plus up to 5000 in overtime available Full time contract Monday to Friday (very occasional weekend work will be required). 37.5 hrs per week (Some early starts will be required to get to site for 8am) 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays Annual Salary Review Free parking Sick pay

The Sub Surface team work in the office or on site five days a week, maximising the growth and development of the younger Engineers. Our other offices are located in Ossett, West Yorkshire; Tipton, West Midlands; and High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
