Job Title:

Graduate Design Engineer

Founded in 1970, Collis Engineering Ltd is a specialist structural and mechanical engineering manufacturer and is an industry leader in the design and supply of railway signaling structures, location platforms and signaling points components.

Our in-house design department offer a specialist service in the design of signalling and other lineside structures and their associated foundations.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Design Engineer to join our busy Design team.

Main Duties:

To work both independently and as part of a team. The post holder is also required to liaise with colleagues regarding engineering specifications, drawing queries, design briefs, project engineering matters etc To work on the design of new and existing products ensuring a cost-effective solution. Provide technical assistance to sales, purchasing, manufacturing and installation departments. To prepare calculations and design data for new and existing products using manual methods, effective use of software and "In House "spreadsheets. May assist in Site Survey. Interpretation of structural civil and/or mechanical designs into working solutions. Preparation of detail and design drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor 3D. Liaise with clients, their representatives, consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors in respect of the production of engineering designs, specifications, work instructions and problem solving. Checking of drawings/designs. Perform the duties of design engineer for projects in accordance with CDM regulations.

Expected Qualifications:

Appropriate Degree or diploma in an Engineering discipline

Associate or Member of an appropriate institution

A good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D

A good working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor 3D

Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel

Experience with MicroStation would be advantageous.

Mon to Thurs: 08.20 to 17.00

Fri: 08.20 to 15.00

Salary

Negotiable depending on experience
