About You





We are looking for someone who is personable self-starter with the ability to project a positive 'can do' professional attitude at all times maintaining good working relationships. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines being able to establish excellent working rapport within the team, business and with clients, with the ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload and keep to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest level of technical excellence.


Objective





To provide sustainability consultancy in the HDR sustainability division. Working across the division and services to perform a support and delivery function. Assisting with and ensuring the services meet the needs of our clients and are delivered successfully against internal requirements. Support and advise internal and external project teams in targeting and achieving specific CFD modelling related solutions.



Responsibilities


In the role of Graduate CFD Consultant , we'll count on you to:
Reasonably understand the technical quality audit system. Undertake technical quality audits on your own work and of others as required. Professionally, proactively and successfully assist and support all aspects of your specialist division's activities and services. Ensure successful assistance and support in the management and delivery of CFD services to our Clients in a timely, integrated, and technically proficient manner. Effectively work independently or as a part of a team to meet business requirements, as required both within the office, remote working environment and during site visits. Maintain and nurture good working relationships with colleagues and project team members. Proactively seek input from within your division, or the project teams, to enable successful completion of your responsibilities. Assist in gathering, monitoring and reporting of data and financial information related to project tasks to support the successful production of final deliverables, and management reporting of service performance. Maintain appropriate level of courtesy and professionalism in dealing with other people, both internally and externally, with the ability to ask questions and exchange information using tact and diplomacy to achieve a satisfactory outcome. Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post. Assist in completion of administrative tasks relating to any part of the business as required, for example: timecards, marketing, HR and procurement. Working with line manager develop thought leadership in relation to where CFD can also be applied in the built environment

Preferred Skills




BEng, MSc or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Building Services or relevant subject. Excellent knowledge of CFD modelling using ANSYS package. Skilled in using Ansys Fluent software is essential Skilled in using Rhino or similar for geometry creation and simplification. Able to establish excellent rapport and good working relationships within the Sustainability and CFD team(s), company, project teams and with Clients. Ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload and keep to tight deadlines. Able to establish excellent rapport and good working relationships within the Sustainability and CFD team(s), company, project teams and with Clients. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and team working skills. Be or aim to be a member of an appropriate industry association e.g. IMechE / IET / IoP / IMA.,

Required Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or closely related field A minimum of 2 years experience Understanding of mechanical systems and controls and knowledge Ability to develop detailed energy models with eQuest or other simulation software Experience working within the architectural design process Understanding of energy-efficient commercial lighting systems Availability to travel out of state Excellent writing and documentation skills Proficient with Microsoft Office programs Ability to work in a team environment An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
