Role in the Practice: GP Medical Receptionist

Location: Inver Surgery, Moyle Medical Centre, Old Glenarm Road, Larne, BT40 1HX

Days of Work: To be confirmed

Reports to: Reception Manager/ Practice Manager

Benefits: 20 days annual leave (plus stats, pro rata), enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, paid sick leave (after qualifying period)

Summary of Role: The GP Receptionist is responsible for the efficient administration of all related processes in order to support the work of the GP's, for example, incoming and outgoing telephone calls, making patient appointments, results reporting, patient services, prescriptions, clinical mail processing and use of practice IT packages in order to support the work of the GPs.

The successful candidate will have a major impact in promoting a positive image of the Practice to patients and other visitors. Listing will be closed once sufficient candidates have been received.

Must be fully flexible as days of work may change dependent on periods of team annual leave.



CORE TASKS & FUNCTIONS

Offer assistance to the team and project a positive image to visitors, either in person, online or on the telephone. Assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service and/or healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient way. Undertake a variety of administrative duties in the smooth running of the practice. Processing of prescriptions. Maintaining our appointment system. Processing requests for appointments, visits and consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate professional. Processing/distributing mail. Various administrative duties - scanning, read coding, completing tasks and summarising patient records. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation. Initiating contact with/responding to requests from patients. Communicating test results to patients
Essential Criteria: Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above, customer service and office experience

Desirable Criteria: Medical Administration experience
