Governors Support Officer Job descriptionIf youxe2x80x99re looking for a new role where you can utilise your organisational skills that you can plan around your lifestyle, our Governors Support Officer role could be the next step in your career.The Governors Support Team is made up of 10 Governors Support Officers who are responsible for liaising with Headteachers and Chairs of Governors to schedule meetings throughout the academic year, offering procedural and legal guidance when required. Daily tasks can vary and include:

  • scheduling 3 meetings per school per academic year (approximately 24 meetings per term full time equivalent).
  • creating a governing board agenda.
  • minuting meetings, either virtually or in schools.
  • maintaining a database for school governing boards.
  • supporting and advising school governors to discharge their statutory responsibilities and to operate an effective and efficient governing board.
Applicants do not need to have experience working with governors as we offer training. This opportunity is ideal for someone who:
  • is looking for a job where you can schedule your work pattern to include some evenings to fit around your lifestyle.
  • is interested in working term time only, enabling you to work the academic year.
  • has organisational and time management skills.
  • has good communication and listening skills.
In addition to the 112 East Riding maintained schools we also work with some additional clients including some hull-based schools, academy schools and academy trusts. This enables us to offer stable contracted hours. To maintain our high quality service, we support our team by offering development opportunities including the NGA Clerks Development Programme, the Governance in Academies programme and NGA Learning, along with many other benefits.The working week may include between 1 to 3 evening meetings per week across each term, scheduled to work around your lifestyle. The majority of meetings serviced are held at schools throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull in the evenings (with some being held virtually).
