Introduction and role purpose
GSK\xe2\x80\x99s General Medicines therapeutic area (TA) is vital to GSK, with a portfolio of trusted brands that will impact the lives of 700 million patients in the next decade. General Medicines delivers ~\xc2\xa39bn in sales for GSK and
90% of all of GSK pharmaceuticals volumes across ~150 brands and 10,000 SKUs to ~110 countries.
It is our ambition to transform General Medicines from delivering \xe2\x80\x9cbroadly stable\xe2\x80\x9d sales into being a growth engine for GSK. To achieve this, we have defined and are implementing disease area strategies in partnership with R&D, medical, commercial and corporate development. These strategies have and continue to shape our portfolio through targeted business development (BD) acquisitions and in-licensing deals.
In order to support the robust and disciplined Medical evaluation, pursuit and integration of BD opportunities, we require a dedicated Early Global Medical Affairs Lead (GMAL) to work closely with the Product & Disease Area Strategy team, Corporate Business Development team and relevant Medical SMEs.
This is a high-visibility strategic role with the potential to drive improved patient outcomes and \xc2\xa3bn impact through Business Development for General Medicines. He/she will require novel and agile ways of working, connections to country-level Medical Affairs and external expert input, and an ability to combine scientific understanding with a practical grasp of patient unmet need, physician perspectives, treatment landscape and payer priorities.
