Who we\'re looking for

We\'re looking for a Manager to lead our Fund Execution team who are responsible for all timely execution, procedure and improvement of the fund dealing processes, whilst ensuring deals are compliant with internal and external requirements.

In this role you will oversee the order management and execution of subscription, redemption and switch orders from clients for investment funds, hedge funds and private equity funds. You will also have responsibility for exception handling and trouble-shooting and providing deal related information to the front office and Investments/ Deal Implementation team.

You will work to ensure that all day-to-day tasks and duties are consistently fulfilled and are subject to compliance with the regulatory framework, rules and SLA\'s or deadlines in place.

You will interact with an array of departments across Schroders Wealth Management, building key links with our Investment, Operations, Compliance, Accounting and Client Relationship Managers (Front Office.)

We\'re looking for someone who will thrive in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on meeting tight deadlines. A strong interest in learning and harnessing technology will help you with your role in the organisation.

You will be flexible, creative and curious enough to take on a challenge, rather than tick off set tasks on a to-do list. You will also be a strong people manager with overall responsibility for leading and developing a team of Lead Analysts and analysts.

Staff management and training are a major part of this role.

The Schroders Campus

You\'ll be based at Schroders Campus near Horsham in West Sussex. That\'s home to our operational teams, product reporting and operational oversight for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

What you\'ll do

  • Effectively plan, prioritise and manage workloads across the team;
  • Manage the daily fund subscriptions and redemptions (incl. Third Party Custody and Private Unit Trust orders) to ensure they are completed within set SLA\'s or deadlines;
  • Responsible for monitoring pending fund orders and follow-up on outstanding trades as well as resolving settlement issues with counterparties;
  • Ensure all fund orders comply with internal and external regulatory requirements;
  • Ensure immediate attention is brought to any type of placement error to eliminate the possibility of greater loss and market exposure;
  • Develop team members to achieve personal, team and business goals;
  • Manage individuals\' performance; conducting 1:1s, appraisals and adherence to group policies;
  • Proactively manage and mitigate risk by reviewing processes and procedures, implementing improvements and maintaining stringent controls;
  • Approve and update procedure manuals, service definitions and audit reports;
  • Conduct root cause analysis on issues that arise;
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal functions and external counterparts;
  • Manage external counterparts to ensure they deliver a quality service to support our functions;
  • Keep informed of market and regulatory changes and where required implement changes to processes and procedures;
  • Attend counterparty/industry seminars;
  • Monitor and review error trends and provide guidance to team members to prevent reoccurrence;
  • Own the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) of the team;
  • Ensure the function is meeting the needs of our business partners and internal clients;
  • Initiate and lead local projects and change or act as lead contact for business projects, both aimed at further improving service and controls or managing costs and risks;
  • Escalate potential problems before they become a risk;
  • Provide cover to the Head of Wealth Client Operations where required.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • Proven experience in managing, leading and developing teams and people;
  • Experience in Fund Execution;
  • Strong understanding of operational risks and control frameworks;
  • Numerical skills and the ability to monitor and produce high quality MIS, and naturally perform root cause analysis;
  • Proficient in basic software notably Excel;
  • Ideally wider experience in Banking or Asset Management and understanding of the end-to-end asset lifecycle;
  • Project and Business Change experience and/or qualification;
  • Open to feedback, receptive to change, challenges status quo and continually looks out for team and self-improvement opportunities;
  • Dexterity to switch seamlessly between big picture thinking and detailed impact analyses when required;
